Composer / Trumpeter Guymon Ensley, formed the band in 2001. In a time when established jazz "groups" are scarce, GEQ is that rare gem that plays classic jazz, be-bop and nu-jazz music of the highest artistic quality. The group continues to deliver, setting standards in musicianship and professionalism. The band’s high energy has been compared respectfully to the likes of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and the John Coltrane and Miles Davis ensembles and has received acceptance from worldwide audiences. In August of 2009, the band heated up the Caribbeans's southern islands (St. Maarten, San Juan Purerto Rico, Barbados and St. John's Antigua) aboard the Carnival Cruise Ship "Victory." 2006 was the year GEQ performed to an international audience in Negril, Jamaica at the Grand Lido Resort. 2004 was the outstandingly beautiful Hawaii Islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii (the Big Island) aboard the Norwegian Cruise Liner "Pride Of America." 2002 was the first international experience for GEQ aboard the Carnival Cruise Liner "Destiny" in the Southern Caribbean. __________________________________________________________________________________ * GEQ Jazz Entertainment provides groups of musicians for entertainment at your function.
